Memories of minicamp: from Chad to B-I-G boys

Staff Writer

Monday, June 16, 2008

My top 10 Bengals' minicamp memories:

1. Swarmed by fans after practice, Chad Johnson speaks into a WXIX-TV (FOX 19) camera: "This is for everyone watching: Cincinnati, I love you. And if you don't like me, I love you."

Extras

2. After an impromptu news conference near Central Avenue, Chad's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, sprawls under a shade tree and cranks up his Blackberry and laptop computer.

3. Chad kisses NFL Network's Scott Hanson on the head one day and "high-fives" some reporters on the sidelines the next.

4. Coach Marvin Lewis refers to defensive end Antwan Odom as "Lamar Odom." Let's hope Antwan plays football better than the Lakers forward plays basketball.

5. Cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph and David Jones stealing the ball from wideouts Jerome Simpson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

6. Tailback Rudi Johnson's 225-pound body-by-Michelangelo, not McDonald's.

7. Rookie tailback James Johnson joins Brandon, Chad, Jeremi and Rudi as the fifth Johnson.

8. The 1,664-pound line of left tackle Levi Jones (307), left guard Andrew Whitworth (330), center Bobbie Williams (345), right guard Stacy Andrews (342) and right tackle Willie Anderson (340). "The average weight is B-I-G," Williams said.

9. The difference in the defense is "the attitude," offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski said, plus "the speed with which they're playing (and) hands-on physical part of them re-routing receivers."

10. Jeremi Johnson is fat-farm bound. He's so big you can show movies on his back.
